Polestar 2 review (2023)

Want to know everything there is to know about this car?

In their own words

It really is the best car I've ever owned. It's a company car to be truthful. The car is 4 wheel drive so sticks to the road in all conditions. There's what feels like limitless torque at any speed, press the throttle and it just goes like a train. It's almost like you are a space or an overtake and it will do it effortlessly and safely. Getting into the car is effortless literally walk up with her in pocket it just opens, get in it just stays no buttons or keys . There's every driver aid you need to mitigate incidents without unnecessary frivolity or gimmicks. It's even a hatch which given the competition is much more practical. It has a few Volvo bits that I had on my previous car, a Volvo S90 so there's no shortage of quality by sharing with the older sibling company. The shut lines and quality feel are up there with the best, no orange peel paintwork no missing bits no bits that randomly fall off. The couple of minor gripes are the rear windows have a motor issue related to software which needs a fix, not an issue in itself but the rear side windows do move a little bit don't rattle or leak. Secondly, the Android interface is great but without signal the car loses quite a bit of functionality. Not figured out of I can pre load maps when this occurs or download Spotify tracks. Lastly, the speed camera constantly thinks it's 60 on the motorway and earns me in speeding doing 70, why? Minor gripes, oh and the onboard manual is blank they are still working on it but it's available online. Overall though it's far superior to the offering from Germany, Asia or even from California. Don't follow the pack be a zeitgeist. Owning and driving it has been one of the few things that's been exciting and put a smile on my face in lockdown. Put a smile on your face.

How reliable do you find the car?

It had one large update in February 2021 for Android automotive which is to be expected on a brand new car with this technology. This won't be required when over the air updated are live hopefully later this year

Does the car do everything you expected it to do?

It's great to drive, loads of kit some unexpected spec like heated seats in the back and hands free boot opening.
